Official PA daily: Israelis' "barbarity unparalleled even among the ISIS," Israel is "igniting a new Holocaust against the Palestinian people"
Op-ed by Mahmoud Abu Al-Haija, editor in chief of the official PA daily
“‘Holocaust’ is a term that summarizes a series of organized attacks by Nazi Germany in Europe during World War II, in particular against the Jews, with the aim of annihilating them…
Israel of the right and the settlers is the only [country] acting today to erase the memory the Holocaust, and even to imitate it. It continuously incites… to murder and persecute Palestinians like hunted animals, in order to annihilate them in every possible place and way, whether by its army or by the settlers, who have lost their heads in a barbarity unparalleled even among the ISIS [Islamic State - military forces fighting in Iraq and Syria]. Moreover, in burning the youth Abu Khdeir alive, they have restored the Holocaust, today, to its abominable and nauseating path, in a way that demonstrates that they are imitating, like [people] gone mad, those who burned their fathers and grandfathers…
What should the world do now – [the same] free world that did not let a moment go by… without condemning the Nazi Holocaust? What should it do when there are those in Israel who are once again igniting a new Holocaust against the Palestinian people, in order to achieve the same aims that Nazism’s racist whims and fabrications sought to achieve?...
The time has come not just for humane and political words of truth, but for a moral stance that will prevent crime and extinguish the flames seeking a new Holocaust, whose devastating wickedness would spare no one.”
Notes: Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) – is an unrecognized state and jihadist group that has conquered large parts of Iraq and Syria. It has declared itself a Caliphate, thereby claiming religious authority over all Muslims; its goal is to bring much of the Middle East, including Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Cyprus under its control.
On June 12, 2014, Israeli teens Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Frenkel were kidnapped by Hamas terrorists while they were hitchhiking. The boys' bodies were found by Israeli security forces near Hebron on June 30, 2014. They appeared to have been shot to death soon after the abduction. Two days later, Palestinian teen Muhammad Abu Khdeir was kidnapped and murdered in Jerusalem in a revenge attack by Israeli extremists. Following this murder, Palestinians took to the streets of eastern Jerusalem in violent and continuous protests. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli ministers immediately condemned the revenge killing in the strongest terms. Israeli police arrested six Israeli suspects on July 6th; under interrogation, three of the suspects confessed to murdering Khdeir.
