PA daily misrepresents Palestinian bulldozer terror attack as an accident, caused by Israeli settlers shooting at bulldozer
“A young man from Jerusalem died yesterday [Aug. 4, 2014] as a Martyr (Shahid) from occupation police gunfire. [The police shot him] claiming that he had carried out an operation (i.e., terror attack) using a bulldozer he was driving in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem. The tractor collided with a bus, causing the death of one Israeli and wounding six others.
A police officer in the occupation police shot the bulldozer driver, Muhammad Nayef Ja’abis, 21, a Jabal Mukkaber resident, who died as a Martyr as a result…
The police claimed the driver of the bulldozer had intentionally rammed into the Israeli bus, causing it to fall over and lightly injuring the bus driver. The Martyr Muhammad’s family denied the occupation’s claim that their son had carried out a [terror] attack by intentionally ramming the Israeli bus. The Martyr’s uncle, Abu Amjad Ja’abis, said that Muhammad, a bulldozer driver, had left home for work as usual, and as he was driving the bulldozer down Shmuel Hanavi Street – the line dividing West and East Jerusalem – an Israeli settler shot at him from a high place. When he tried to go back, he was shot at again, at which point he collided with the bus, and came under heavy gunfire. Abu Amjad added that witnesses and photographs taken with cellphones confirm the family’s version [of events], and refute the occupation police’s claim.”
Note: Tractor terrorist attack - On Aug. 4, 2014, Muhammad Nayef Ja’abis rammed the bulldozer he was driving into a bus in central Jerusalem. As he headed toward the bus, he ran over and killed Avraham Walz, 29. A video filmed with a cellphone shows Ja’abis ramming the bus several times before succeeding in turning it over on its side, lightly injuring the bus driver and 5 others, after which he continued to attack the vehicle with the bulldozer’s digging arm. A police officer and an Israel Prisons Service official ran up to the tractor and fired several shots at Ja’abis, killing him.
The attack took place during the 2014 Gaza war as Hamas was firing thousands of rockets at Israel and as Israel was responding with Operation Protective Edge, which aimed at destroying Hamas' terror infrastructure and ability to launch rockets at Israel.
