Abbas advisor: Rival political factions may argue in private, but should present a united front when facing "our enemy"

Official PA TV Live  |
Official PA TV Live broadcast the Friday ‎sermon from the Al-Tashrifat Mosque in ‎the presidential compound in Ramallah. ‎The sermon was delivered by Mahmoud ‎Al-Habbash, the Supreme Shari’ah Judge ‎and Mahmoud Abbas’ Advisor on ‎Religious and Islamic Affairs
Mahmoud Al-Habbash, the Supreme ‎Shari’ah Judge and Mahmoud Abbas’ ‎Advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs: ‎‎“It is not fitting for us to argue among ‎ourselves in the presence of our enemies, ‎or to argue about our decision before our ‎enemy when he is inside our home. As ‎factions, argue as much as you like – at ‎home, behind closed doors. But when we ‎go out to face our enemies – no one is ‎allowed to speak except in the name of ‎Palestine. That was the Prophet’s custom ‎‎– he resolved the argument before the ‎battle inside his mosque, and when they ‎went out, they went out as one.”‎

Note: This was broadcast during the 2014 Gaza war as Hamas was firing thousands of rockets at Israel and as Israel was responding with Operation Protective Edge, which aimed at destroying Hamas' terror infrastructure and ability to launch rockets at Israel.
