Hamas spokesman calls for liberating Jerusalem and calls Gaza war a victory

Al-Aqsa TV, Hamas  |
Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri: “The time has come to say today that our true battle is not for opening the [border] crossings. Our true battle is for the liberation of Jerusalem, Allah willing.”
Man on loudspeaker and audience: “[Remember] Khaibar, Khaibar, oh Jews! The army of Muhammad will return! Resistance (i.e., Hamas), Resistance. We are all Resistance.”
Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri: “The battle will continue. But the time has come to say: Not only will our people no longer accept the blockade – our people will also no longer accept the defiling of our land by this occupation. Therefore, starting today, the Resistance (i.e., Hamas) is preparing not only to open a crossing somewhere or other, but to liberate our Palestinian land. This is the truth [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu must grasp. We have grown more confident and [are] more determined to launch the battle of liberation, [to] end the occupation, stop Judaization [and] liberate our land and holy places. We have become more determined after the great victory achieved by the resistance in this heroic battle (i.e., reference to the 2014 Gaza war, of which Hamas portrays itself as victorious).”

Note: Khaibar is the name of the last Jewish village defeated by Muhammad's army in 628. Many Jews were killed in the battle, which marked the end of Jewish presence in Arabia. There are Muslims who see this event as a precursor to future wars against Jews. At extemist gatherings and rallies, this slogan is often chanted as a threat to Jews implying that they should expect to be defeated and killed again by Muslims.
