Fatah and Hamas collaboration leading up to 2014 Gaza war praised in PA daily op-ed
Op-ed by Ahmed Saif, columnist for official PA daily:
“The biggest surprise in Israel’s security history came from the south… the Palestinian leadership in the PA and the PLO succeeded, through aid that was partially Arab and [partially] European, in providing a lifeline for the Palestinians in Gaza, by using its connections and under the cover of what is referred to as ‘the peace process.’ [At the same time] the resistance factions managed to accumulate weapons and power, and lay foundations, including tunnels. Their joint efforts were a strategic surprise for Israel and a total failure for its intelligence mechanisms, its political assessment and its research centers.”
