Israel’s stance since 1948: “Rid [the land] of the Palestinians wherever they may be”, repeats libel that Israel carried out Sabra and Shatila massacre – PA council
“The [PA’s] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places published a statement yesterday [Sept. 16, 2014]. In its statement, [the Council] stated that the massacres being perpetrated by the occupation state and its executive arms throughout all its successive governments constitute a continuation of the aggressive stance it has adopted since 1948: “Rid [the land] of the Palestinians wherever they may be,” and constitutes a bloody testimony to their ongoing suffering. The Council said this statement was published to mark the 32nd anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre, which was carried out by the occupation army under the leadership of Ariel Sharon and Rafael Eitan at the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps on September 16, 1982. Council Secretary-General Dr. Hanna Issa said: ’... The main aim of the massacres carried out by the occupation is to sow fear in the hearts of the Palestinians and to tighten the noose around their [necks], in order to force them to emigrate.’”
Note: Sabra and Shatila are Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. In 1982, during the first Lebanon War, Muslim residents of the camps were massacred by Christian Phalangists. The PA has a longstanding policy of falsely accusing Israel of committing the massacre or actively helping to carry it out.
