PA Parliament Member glorifies terrorist who attempted to assassinate Rabbi Glick
Op-ed by Prisoners’ Affairs Commission director and PA Parliament Member Issa Karake:
“The prisoner-Martyr (Shahid) Mutaz Hijazi spent ten years of his life as punishment in the occupation prisons. He lived in solitary confinement, and was moved from cell to cell, isolated from himself and the world… He felt Jerusalem bursting in his veins. Mutaz could not endure what he saw happening in his capital and refused to become a slave under the tribe of extremist settlers and the occupation authorities. He refused to go back to his time in prison, when the worst punishments were inflicted on him in an effort to efface and break him in terms of humanity and nationalism. He refused [to accept] that Jerusalem be imprisoned in the cages of the occupation state, and that it should become a pillar of salt under the rule of the myths, hymns and history forgers… Mutaz opened the door of his iron cell, and walked the streets of Jerusalem in search of its fragrance, its musk and angels in his blood, which flowed bountifully onto the earth and into the heavens…
Behold Mutaz Hijazi,
the man of the promise;
tell him: thank you
as his blood flows over the ground
decipher his hints
and ask yourselves
in what person will your bodies now speak?”
Note: Mutaz Hijazi – Islamic Jihad member and released prisoner from Jerusalem who attempted to assassinate Rabbi Yehuda Glick, a prominent activist working to assure rights for Jews to visit and pray on the Temple Mount, on Oct. 29, 2014. The assassination attempt took place following a conference on establishing times and places for Jews to pray on the Temple Mount. Glick was seriously wounded in the attack; Hijazi was killed soon afterwards when he opened fire on an Israeli police force that was attempting to arrest him.
