PA daily op-ed honors Munich massacre planners and terrorists: “Allah, place them in your most spacious garden”
Op-ed by Issa Abd Al-Hafiz:
“Martyr (Shahid) Abu Yusuf Al-Najjar had the extraordinary capacity to combine a military way of thinking with a profound political stance. His strong positions did not allow for any cease-fire as long as the issue touched on Palestinian goals and the operations [carried out] in order to achieve them. He oversaw the building of Palestinian-Lebanese relations, and took up the [issue of the] Lebanese arena, where he succeeded in establishing connections with all members of the national movement – [connections] which supplied the main support base for the Palestinian revolution there. [Israel’s] Operation Spring of Youth, to which Martyr Abu Yusuf, Kamal Adwan and Kamal Nasser fell victim, came in response to the Munich operation, in which a group from ‘Black September’ attacked the Israeli sports team participating [in the Olympics]… Allah, have mercy on our Martyrs and place them in your most spacious garden. We are awaiting the declaration of full independence over the land of Palestine, so that their bones may be transferred to the land of the homeland for which they fell.”
Notes: Abu Yusuf Al-Najjar was Arafat's deputy and among the founders of Fatah. He was the Commander of Al-Asifa, Fatah’s military unit, and member of Fatah’s Central Committee and PLO’s Executive Committee. He also was the Commander of Operations of the terrorist organization Black September and involved in the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics (Sept. 5, 1972). He was killed by Israel in 1973.
