“A report [published by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics] in which PCBS director Ola Awad summarized the Palestinian situation at the close of the present year [2014], showed that the number of Palestinians in the world increased in 2014.
[The report] showed that the approximate number of Palestinians in the world is 12.1 million. - 4.62 million in the State of Palestine, 1.46 million Palestinians in Israel, and 675,000 in foreign countries…The population of the State of Palestine is estimated at 4.62 million – 2.83 million in the West Bank and 1.79 million in the Gaza Strip. Refugees constitute approximately 43.1% of the total Palestinian population of the State of Palestine; of the refugees in the State of Palestine, 38.8% are in the West Bank, and 61.2% are in the Gaza Strip…
The total fertility rate in the period between 2011 and 2013 dropped to 4.1 children, compared to 6 children in 1997 – 3.7 in the West Bank and 4.5 in the Gaza Strip…
The size of the average Palestinian family dropped to 5.2 individuals in 2013, from 6.4 in 1997 – 4.9 in the West Bank and 5.8 in the Gaza Strip.”
