PA daily op-ed: McCain has connections with Islamic State leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi
Op-ed by Hafez Al-Barghouti, regular columnist for Al-Hayat Al-Jadida
Headline: “Ominous McCain”
“US Senator John McCain came to the aid of [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu in his dispute with US President Barack Obama regarding everything related to the two-state solution… The Republicans played a crucial role in backing Netanyahu’s election campaign, when they invited him to speak before the Congress without the American president’s approval, and later [by] threatening Iran with Congress retracting any nuclear agreement. Thus it was revealed that Netanyahu controls the US more than Obama, that the Republican party is the American version of the [Israeli] Likud party, and that McCain is the American Liberman, following the footsteps of Netanyahu. Senator McCain has always been known for his views, opposing Palestinian rights, and blood was spilled everywhere he went in the world: Libya and later Egypt, Syria and Iraq. It was he who, during his visit to Syria, was accompanied by [leader of the Islamic State] Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, the two [even] appear together in some photographs.”
