“The Fatah Central Committee held a meeting headed by President Mahmoud Abbas at the Presidential Headquarters in Ramallah yesterday [April 19, 2015]. At the beginning of the meeting, His Honor [Abbas] and the Central Committee members read the Al-Fatiha Sura (opening Sura of ‎the Quran) for the soul of leader Martyr Khalil Al-Wazir ‘Abu Jihad’ and the souls of the Martyrs of the Palestinian revolution…  The Central Committee also marked the 27th anniversary of the Martyrdom-death of the great leader, brother Khalil Al-Wazir ‘Abu Jihad.’ He was the first bullet and the first stone, who carries the historic responsibility, along with leader and symbol Yasser Arafat and other brothers who founded the Fatah movement, for creating the Palestinian national identity [based] on the foundations of struggle, and establishing the Palestinian cause as one of national rights, independence and freedom for our people.
In addition, the Central Committee addressed the 42nd anniversary of the Martyrdom-death of commanders Kamal Adwan, Kamal Nasser, and Abu Yusuf Al-Najjar. The Committee emphasized its loyalty to their path, and that it would continue in their path of struggle until our people obtains its legitimate national rights, primarily the right of return, [the right of] self-definition and the establishment of a Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital. The Central Committee expressed its appreciation and praised the President’s decision to honor the Martyrs who founded the Palestinian revolution and the Fatah movement, as well as the first fighters, emphasizing our loyalty and commitment to the heroic Martyrs, to their fighting families and to our heroic prisoners, who sacrificed the best years of their lives for their people’s freedom.”
