Op-ed in PA daily: Israel has “scheme to take over” and “Judaize” the Al-Aqsa Mosque
This item refers to an attack on Jordanian Supreme Shari’ah Judge Ahmad Halil on May 22, 2015. While he gave a sermon in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, members of the Islamic Liberation party disrupted his sermon forcing him to stop in the middle and leave. One of them accused his country of giving Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque to the Jews.

“Can we explain the attack against the great scholar Ahmad Halil, the Supreme Shari’ah Judge of Jordan, in the Al-Aqsa Mosque as something other than an action coordinated with the schemes of the Israeli occupation and settlement state in order to Judaize it?! The attack of a ‘group’ which claims to be Islamic against a great religious figure, who went up to the pulpit of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to deliver the Friday sermon, when he has come to support the cause of Arab Jerusalem and the first direction of prayer (i.e., Jerusalem), the Noble Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount) which is the third holiest [site in Islam] and the place where Prophet Muhammad ascended to Heaven, is not only a violation of the values and directives of the religion, and a desecration of the holiness of the places of worship where Allah alone is served. This attack is also political immorality in broad daylight, carried out by exploiters of the religion, who are hotly contesting who will be most coordinated with the scheme to break the connection between the Muslims and the Al-Aqsa Mosque specifically, and also the connection between the Arabs and believers of the world and the holy city and its Palestinian Arab residents who stand firm… We must purge from our midst those who exploit the religion for their interests and worldly and partisan benefit, as their ideas and conduct are an explicit ‘fabricated Islamic’ expression of the settlers and their government’s scheme to take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Judaize the Jerusalem Noble Sanctuary, as preparation for completely taking over the holy city.”
