Official PA daily: "Zionist colonialists" are "forgers of history"
Headline: “Two states – one homeland!”
Op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily
“Returning to the new initiatives on the negotiation table, the ‘Two States – One Homeland!’ initiative which will be officially announced tomorrow, Thursday [June 11, 2015], in Beit Jala (i.e., near Bethlehem), is the product of an agreement between Israeli and Palestinian figures. However, it should be noted that some of the Palestinians whose names are signed on it announced in advance that they do not recognize it, and that their names were added without asking them, which indicates their disagreement with what is stated in the initiative. This is after Palestinian media platforms and figures debated and pointed out serious flaws that it includes, among them [the statement] that ‘The two peoples recognize the historical rights of each other to the one homeland.’ Moreover, this initiative did not stop here. In addition to the deep confusion between the Palestinian and Zionist narrative, which equates the Palestinian owners of the land and history with the Zionist colonialists, forgers of history with the most abominable Zionist slogan, ’A land without people for a people without a land,’ the initiative also rejected the right of return of Palestinians to their land and homes from which they were expelled, and limited their return to the State of Palestine only (i.e., and not to Israel).”
