PLO official speaks positively about relations between Iran and PA
Radio program Good Morning Homeland, phone interview with PLO Executive Committee Member Ahmed Majdalani in Iran, regarding his official visit to Iran and his meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister regarding relations between the [Palestinian] Authority and Iran
PLO Executive Committee member Ahmed Majdalani: “This is a visit made at the invitation of the Iranian government in order to discuss numerous matters of mutual interest. Second of all, there was mutual understanding regarding all issues, especially mutual appreciation of the agreement that Iran signed with the P5+1 countries (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council—China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, United States - and Germany –Ed.) regarding the Iranian nuclear [power] which will create an atmosphere of security and stability in the region… In addition, this agreement will draw the attention back to the Palestinian issue, as it is the foremost, central issue in the region. The Israeli occupation must end, and the ongoing Israeli aggression on our land and homeland is what threatens the security and stability of the region. Likewise, we concurred that in light of the agreement, the time has come to once again raise the idea of an international conference, as suggested by Egypt a number of years ago, in order to empty the region of mass genocidal weapons, and turn it into a safe region, free of conflict… I believe that we are on the verge of a new stage in Palestinian-Iranian relations.”
