Iranians to appoint ambassador to “Palestine”

Headline: “Al-Malki: ‘The Iranians are responsive regarding the appointment of an ambassador to us in Amman or Cairo’”
“[PA] Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad Al-Malki said that soon they would reach a formula with the Iranians regarding their appointment of an ambassador to the State of Palestine in the Jordanian capital Amman, or in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, as with many countries that don’t maintain ties with Israel. Al-Malki clarified in a statement to the radio this morning [Aug. 19, 2015] that for a long while there has been discussion with the Iranians regarding the appointment of an Iranian ambassador to Palestine, and they are responsive to this. He added that the last discussion took place during the visit of [PLO Executive Committee Member] Ahmed Majdalani in Tehran, which took place in the framework of completing these steps, and that there will be an Iranian ambassador to Palestine, in order that the discussions regarding bilateral ties would not be directly with the capital, but rather with a person appointed by the state.”
