Fatah official: “Escalate the popular resistance until it becomes a full intifada”

Fatah Central Committee member Jamal Muhaisen: “We cannot be dragged [by the Israelis] into an armed war, but in the face of the Israeli occupation’s crimes there may be responses here and there, and after all, the Israeli side’s blood is not more precious than the blood of a Palestinian child… No [Arab] foreign minister or president should discuss strategic relations with the US. The US is the enemy of the Palestinian people, the enemy of the Arab nation, and the enemy of the Muslim nation. It is the one enabling the Israeli occupation of our land to continue to exist, and it is the one tearing the Arab world to shreds. Therefore, the time has come for Arab and Muslim rulers to reexamine their relations with the US… We have no choice other than to escalate the popular resistance until it becomes a full intifada and a clash with the occupation, an intifada like that of 1987 (the First Intifada, Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993 –Ed.), so that the world will pay attention to the Palestinian cause.”
