Headline: “Al-Malki thanks the UN for its humanistic position regarding refugees”
“PA Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Malki sent an urgent missive to High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini. In the missive he expressed the gratitude and appreciation of the Palestinian leadership and the [PA] Foreign Ministry to her personally, to the EU and its states, for the courageous human position they have adopted regarding the problem of the waves of immigrants that are flowing ceaselessly into all the countries of the EU. Al-Malki expressed his appreciation for the EU’s position regarding the Palestinian refugees, who had to flee once again from several countries in the region, especially Syria and Iraq. In light of President Mahmoud Abbas’ instructions, Al-Malki stressed that the State of Palestine is ready and willing to accept into its territories the Palestinian refugees who have had to leave Syria, while protecting their rights as Palestinian refugees in accordance with international law. He demanded that the EU put pressure on the government of Israel so that it allows them to pass into the Palestinian territories, and clarified that the Palestinians are willing to open their homes to them [the refugees]. Likewise, the minister expressed his hope in the missive, that all the countries will provide the PA with the required financial means to enable it to fulfill this national and humanitarian obligation, as the homeland Palestine deserves its sons more than the diaspora, the state of being refugees, and the first and second refugee camps (The first camps are those from before the war in Syria, the second were set up as a result of the civil war. –Ed.)”
