PA Prime Minister announces gov will raise $1 million to fund neighborhood in honor of prisoners serving life sentences

Official PA TV reporter: “Hope Neighborhood for prisoners serving life sentences was the second stop of [PA] Prime Minister [Rami Hamdallah], where he laid the cornerstone for the neighborhood for prisoners serving life sentences from the Bethlehem and Hebron districts. He announced that we will give the project $200,000 in aide as a sign of appreciation for the prisoners’ struggle and the sacrifices they have made in the occupation’s (i.e., Israel’s) prisons.
PA Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah: “This is a pioneering project. This government, according to the instructions of [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas], the government will support this project. The government will pave a road to this neighborhood. The government will also establish a school in the area. In the name of the president, the government donated $200,000 and will act to obtain external funding of $1,000,000 for this project. The project will serve 120 prisoners serving life sentences. We want these prisoners to live in dignity.”
