Following Palestinian Media Watch's report that Nablus placed a monumentin a city square to honor a Palestinian terrorist involved in the murder of at least 23 Israelis, a Norwegian councilmanproposed his city cut its sister city ties with Nablus. PMW was notified by Councilman Danielsen that the formal proposal is scheduled for tomorrow Sept. 28, 2015.
Reporting on the Norwegian actions, the Palestinian daily Al-Quds wrote that PMW "denounced the sister city relations" between Nablus and the Norwegian city of Stavanger, and that PMW's report "caused the severing of relations" between the two cities.
Subsequently, PMW sent additional documentation to the Norwegian councilman exposing that Nablus' creating a monument for terrorist killer of 23 Naif Abu Sharakh is not an isolated action but part of a consistent municipal policy. Dear Mats,
In anticipation of the upcoming discussion about Stavanger cutting ties with Nablus, we have collected additional documentation for you about Nablus. The attached sources show that the square named after terrorist Abu Sharakh was not an isolated event. The city of Nablus has a history of glorifying terrorists and consistently erases Israel from the map, presenting all of it as "Palestine."
Here are the main points from the attached collection:
- The governor of Nablus publicly honored terrorist Dalal Mughrabi who led killing of 37 civilians, among them 12 children, as "a model on our nation's path" (March 2015)
- At a summer camp in Nablus, children carried rifles and wore military uniforms. The governor of Nablus spoke at the closing ceremony of the camp. (June 2015)
- The Nablus district held a ceremony honoring families of terrorist murderers of dozens of Israelis (April 2015)
- The Ministry of Education in Nablus recently posted multiple maps that erase Israel from the map, covering Israel and the PA areas in the Palestinian flag. (April-May 2015)
We added an additional interesting point as well:
In 2013, Israeli doctors visited Nablus to coordinate the transfer of Palestinian children for treatment in the Schneider Hospital in Israel. This is ironic considering Nablus' glorification of killers of Israelis, including children.
We have not been able to verify if the transfer practice continues with hospitals in Nablus specifically today in 2015. However, Israeli hospitals treated around 110,000 Palestinian patients in 2014.

Al-Quds' report on the Norwegian city's response to PMW's documentation
Headline: "An Israeli report caused the severing of relations between Nablus and a Norwegian city"
"A local TV reporter's [television] appearance in Nablus next to an Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades' monument led to a demand to sever sister city [ties] with a Norwegian city.
According to Norwegian newspapers, the city of Stavanger called to withdraw from the sister cities [agreement] which it signed in 2011, due to 'terror glorification in TV footage of a Palestinian reporter against the background of an Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades' monument.'
The monument commemorates the anniversary of the [death of] the Brigades' General Commander Naif Abu Sharakh, who died as a Martyr in 2006. It was made from a slab of marble in the shape of a map of Palestine (the map includes all of Israel -Ed.).
A report published by an Israeli research center [Palestinian Media Watch] which monitors Palestinian media outlets, denounced the sister city [relations] between a Norwegian city and the city of Nablus which 'honors terrorists.'
The report stated (sic., the PMW report quoted Norwegian Councilman Danielsen who stated:) that the use of a whole map of Palestine in the monument means that 'Abu Sharakh planned to expel the Israelis and settle the Palestinians in their place, and that a map of the [areas] under Palestinian control was not employed, which means that [Stavanger's other] sister city - the Israeli city of Netanya - may be a legitimate target for Palestinian resistance (i.e., terror).'"
