PA official says “Palestine has entered a stage of all-out popular intifada,” do not let the “heroic struggle” be stopped by negotiations
Headline: “Barghouti: ‘Palestine has entered a stage of all-out intifada’”
“Secretary-General of the National Initiative Movement Dr. Mustafa Barghouti stated that Palestine has entered a stage of all-out popular intifada and that the heroic struggle against the occupation’s soldiers and the herds of settlers taking place in the other occupied territories are reviving the first intifada (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993). Barghouti added that the main goal of the new intifada is to change the balance of power in favor of the Palestinian people and to defeat Israel’s attempts to destroy the Palestinian cause, and relegate it to the sidelines on the international level. Barghouti said that the most important guarantee to the success of this intifada is to immediately form a unified national leadership, as was done in the first intifada. Barghouti warned of pressure or external attempts to stop the popular uprising through talk of new negotiations with the [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu government, or by dragging the Palestinians to projects that will not realize the rights of the Palestinian people.”
