PLO official: A new intifada is possible and the Palestinians are “willing to make sacrifices”

“Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Front and PLO Executive Committee member Dr. Wasel Abu Yusuf said that the ongoing threats of the occupation are a failing attempt to break the will of the Palestinian people and prevent it from protecting its rights to freedom, liberation, and self-definition. Abu Yusuf emphasized that the ongoing aggression of the occupation will not lessen the determination of the Palestinian people, in light of the strong popular uprising taking place in the occupied territories that is open to all possibilities and the outbreak of a new Palestinian intifada (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel). Likewise, he emphasized that the Palestinian people will not sit idly by in the face of the occupation's aggression, and that it is willing to make sacrifices in order to achieve its goals – liberation, the end of the occupation, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty and its capital in Jerusalem. In addition, he said that [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu's threats to use an iron fist against our people express the old-new Zionist policy, and are a futile means of revenge that has proven its failure and increased the determination of our people to confront the occupation."
