Hamas preacher waves knife: "The truth of Islam is coming... go out… attack"
Sheikh Muhammad Salah Abu Rajab, Al-Abrar Mosque in Rafah, Gaza Strip:
“’Khaibar, oh Jews!’ (i.e., village where Jews were killed by Muhammad's army in 628). The army of Muhammad has begun to return from Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Yemen and Saudi Arabia... My brother on the West Bank, stab! ... Paradise is adorned with spears and daggers... The men of Gaza are digging in the ground, taking out what is in it, and have crossed the borders. They have taken their revenge, O Messenger of Allah. People of the West Bank, you saw how the soldiers ran away... Today is the day. [Jews are under] curfew. Curfew, curfew... You won't find anything in our land but slaughter. You won't find anything in our land but slaughter and stabbing... The truth is coming, the truth of Islam... Young people of the West Bank, go out in threes, fours, attack. Some will hold the [Jews'] hands, and the others will stab with axes and cleavers.
[Sheikh quotes lyrics from popular song:] ‘I'm coming towards you, my enemy. From every house, neighborhood and street, I'm coming towards you, my enemy with cleavers and knives. From every house, neighborhood and street...’
Men of the West Bank, in [your] next attack, attack in groups - three, four, five together. Cut [the Jews] to pieces.”
Note: Khaibar is the name of the last Jewish village defeated by Muhammad's army in 628. Many Jews were killed in the battle, which marked the end of the Jewish presence in Arabia. There are Muslims who see this event as a precursor to future wars against Jews. At extremist gatherings and rallies, this slogan is often chanted as a threat to Jews, implying that they should expect to be defeated and massacred again by Muslims.
