Fatah committee led by Abbas meet to discuss Israel’s “summary executions” and its “desecration” of Al-Aqsa Mosque
Headline: “Fatah Central Committee: ‘The occupation is the root of the problem, and the solution is in its end and the establishment of an independent [Palestinian] state with Jerusalem as its capital”
“The Fatah Central Committee held a meeting yesterday [Oct. 21, 2015] evening, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, in the presidential compound in Ramallah. The committee discussed the deteriorating situation in the field due to the occupation’s crimes against our people, the summary executions that the occupation’s army and the gangs of its settlers are carrying out, and the desecration of the sites holy to Islam and Christianity, first among them the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a change to whose historic status quo we will not agree to.
[Presidential Spokesman] and Fatah Central Committee member and official spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina stated… that the Central Committee emphasized that the occupation is the root of the problem, and the solution is its [the occupation’s] end, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, in the 1967 borders… At the same time, the Fatah Central Committee praised the masses of our heroic people which is resolute on its land and in its defense of it against the occupation, which has managed to place the Palestinian cause at the head of the international community’s priorities, after Israel’s attempt to isolate the Palestinian people by taking advantage of the fact that the Arabs and the world are preoccupied [with other matters].”
