Palestinian “operations such as stabbing, car ramming, and shooting” are a “natural response” to Israeli “terror”
Headline: “Abu Aita: ‘The goal of the intifada is to sweep away the occupation, and the attempts to bury it [the intifada] alive are doomed to fail’”
“The Fatah movement emphasized its support for our Palestinian people’s ongoing intifada against the Zionist occupation and its herds of settlers on the path to the complete termination of the occupation of the Palestinian territories. The movement stressed that the Jerusalem Intifada is an important new stage in the stages of our people’s struggle against the occupation. Fatah Spokesman Fayiz Abu Aita stated in an exclusive interview with [Palestinian newspaper] Al-Istiqlal: ‘We support our people’s intifada in order to achieve its [the intifada’s] main goal, which is the termination of the occupation of the Palestinian territories.’ He added: ‘Our people is defending itself through this intifada, and is also protecting the first direction of prayer and the third holiest [Islamic] sanctuary (i.e., the Al-Aqsa Mosque), which is subject to daily attacks of the occupation and extremist Zionist settlers.’
Rage and fierce intifada have been prevalent for the last month in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank, and in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948 (i.e., Israel), due to the occupation’s terrorist actions and recurring invasions of Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by the herds of settlers. This is in addition to the ongoing attacks against the Palestinians, especially in the occupied West Bank cities, which have pushed the young Palestinians to carry out operations (i.e., terror attacks) such as stabbing, car ramming, and shooting, which are a natural response, in order to put a stop to the occupation’s terror and its settlers.
Abu Aita stressed that our Palestinian people will not stop its intifada and resistance to the occupation as long as it [the occupation] remains on the Palestinian territories and continues its crimes, carried out under the protection of the occupation government’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and his government’s ministers and parliament (Knesset) members, who are involved in terror and crimes against our people.
He clarified that the current intifada in Jerusalem and the West Bank does not need a united national committee to lead it, so that it is continuously monitored and supervised, [because] the National Forces Committee in the West Bank [already] coordinates its actions, makes decisions, and closely follows the intifada.
Fatah’s spokesman noted that what guarantees the continuation of the intifada against the occupation is the provision of every means of support and assistance for its continuation and expansion.
As for the joint meeting between the leaderships of the Fatah movement and the Islamic Jihad movement in Fatah’s Central Committee member Zakaria Al-Agha’s office in Gaza, the spokesman stressed that the two movements have come to an agreement regarding the need to support the intifada, while maintaining its present character, as it is one of the legal forms of resistance, and he described the meeting as ‘constructive and honest.’”
PA leaders and officials have legitimized Palestinian violence by quoting UN resolution 3236 which "recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to regain its rights by all means." The PA interprets "all means" as including violence against civilians, but has chosen to ignore the continuation of the resolution which states that the use of "all means" should be "in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations..." The UN Charter prohibits targeting civilians, even in war. Chapter 1, Article 1, opens by saying that "international disputes" should be resolved "by peaceful means."
