Fatah official rejects “armed resistance” but affirms “right” to “defend holy sites using every [possible] means”

“Fatah Central Committee member Sultan Abu Al-Einein stated that the popular activity that has been taking place in the Palestinian territories for the past month has put the Palestinian cause back in its natural place, and he praised the national unification around the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.
Abu Al-Einein emphasized, in a press release on the occasion of one month since the [beginning of] the popular activity against the Israeli occupation, the importance of the role of the popular uprising in securing the right of our Palestinian people to establish its independent state within the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He likewise stressed that it is necessary to continue the popular confrontation with the Israeli occupation, and to draw lessons from our past experience and not be dragged into armed resistance, while protecting our right to defend our people and its holy sites, using every [possible] means and ways. Abu Al-Einein encouraged the active participation of women in this popular activity. Moreover, he said about the Palestinian woman that “It is not possible to repay a woman who bids her Martyr son farewell with cries of joy and with happiness, except through the continuation of this activity until the Israeli occupation is swept from the territories of the State of Palestine.”
