Fatah and Hamas clash over claiming terrorist stabber as one of their own faction
Headline: "Waste of the Martyr's blood!"
"Some of the factions are trying to muddy the atmosphere of national unity of the participants in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip processions, whose sparks were ignited at the beginning of last month from the heart of Palestine – occupied Jerusalem… The funeral ceremonies of Martyr Uday Al-Masalmeh, who did not belong to any political faction, gave the factions an opportunity to hurry to fight to adopt him as one of their people, and the competition between the Fatah and Hamas movements flared up, while a third stream, representing the position of the family, called to demonstrate national unity, after the atmosphere of dispute had spread among supporters of the two factions… The dispute between the sides began with the announcement of his death as a Martyr (Shahid) on Oct. 20, 2015. When supporters of the two sides met where the mourning ceremonies were being prepared, each of them expressed their willingness to take care of all the needs of the Martyr's family, and the funeral ceremonies, at their party's expense. Due to the dispute's continuation, the Fatah movement decided to remove the movement's flags from the mourning ceremonies’ location in order to prevent disputes, while Hamas activists remained and continued to put up the movement's flags and mourning signs.
[PA] National Security [Forces] personnel accompanied Martyr Uday on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, to his wedding ceremony (i.e., funeral, but seen as the Martyr’s wedding to the 72 Virgins in Paradise) with a military procession which began at the government hospital in Hebron, and they gave him to his relatives so they could bury him in his village, Beit Awwa, in the south-west of the district. The pictures showed that he was wrapped in a Palestinian flag, but the moment he arrived at his village, he was wrapped in a Hamas flag."
