PLO Executive Committee member Mahmoud Ismail: “All signs indicate that it [Israeli policy towards the Palestinians] will continue in the upcoming weeks or months, because the escalation [of measures taken against the Palestinians] will be responded to with a strengthening of the resistance, resolve, and pride, against the Israeli military machine. Consequently, the rock-throwing and knife-stabbing operations will increase, as well as all other options available to these young people, in order to confront this Zionist arrogance. [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu thinks that the current situation of keeping the world busy with the Palestinian problem, the oppression and aggression taking place inside Palestine against human beings, trees, and rocks, and against everything Palestinian – [Netanyahu thinks] that he will succeed in breaking the Palestinian will. [He thinks that] through expanding the settlement enterprise, which grows with every passing day… he will succeed in breaking the Palestinian will for revolution, resistance, and positive desire to fulfill our goals. He is mistaken.”
