PA district governor: The uprising must stay “peaceful” and “need[s] to remain under control” in order not to lose world opinion
Headline: “Governor of Nablus district: We will not agree to the return of the loss of security control”
“Nablus District Governor Akram Rajoub emphasized that they will not allow the loss of security control to return, and will not allow the popular uprising to stray from its peaceful path. Akram Rajoub said yesterday [Nov. 19, 2015] in an interview with Radio Mawtini: ‘The events in the Palestinian arena need to remain under control so that we do not expose our people to danger, as this situation shows the Israeli enemy to the world in its most abominable form and brings benefits to our people.’
He added: ‘We will not agree to a return of the loss of security control of the Palestinian arena, as this is a real call to the occupation to act with all its power to kill and destroy the elements of the Palestinian people.’ Rajoub said: ‘The [PA] government and civilian committees in the Nablus district will rebuild the homes of the prisoners’ relatives that the occupation forces destroyed (i.e., the homes of the Henkins’ murderers) in the last few days.’”
The Henkin murders - Israelis Naama and Eitam Henkin (also an American citizen) were murdered in a shooting attack on Oct. 1, 2015, on the road between Itamar and Elon Moreh in the West Bank. Their four children, aged 9, 7, 4, and 4 months, were also in the car and witnessed the murders, but were not physically injured.
Five suspects in the murder, members of a Hamas terrorist cell, were arrested by Israel and confessed to the murders. The leader of the group, Ragheb Ahmad Muhammad Aliwi, has served time in an Israeli prison for security related crimes.
