Fatah official: Israel is plotting the “division [of the Al-Aqsa Mosque] according to areas and times”

“Assistant Secretary of Fatah in Jerusalem Shadi Mattour stressed that the Palestinian people is capable of defending Jerusalem with courage and resolve, and of thwarting the occupation authorities’ plots, such as the division [of the Al-Aqsa Mosque] according to areas and times, expulsions, executions and house arrests.
In an interview with Radio Mawtini yesterday [Dec. 19, 2015], Mattour emphasized the continuation of the popular resistance and the adherence to the national principles, in order to obtain a state with Jerusalem as its capital… He noted that it is important to rally around the families of the Martyrs (Shahids) and assist them. Mattour stated: ‘The only way in front of us is the liberation of Palestine, and we march toward the fulfillment of the Palestinian dream.’ He added that ‘We will make sacrifices in order to defeat the Israeli occupation.”
"Division according to areas and times" refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews.
