PLO organization approves list of “Martyrs,” pays allowances to families of terrorists
Headline: "The National Association of the Martyrs' Families of Palestine: The number of Martyrs of the uprising is 153"
"The National Association of the Martyrs' Families of Palestine announced yesterday that as of the day before [Jan. 11, 2016] the number of Martyrs of the popular uprising is 153 male and female Martyrs. Secretary-General of the association Muhammad Sbeihat said that… the body that approves Martyrs is the institution that takes care of the families of Martyrs and wounded, and it is an official body under the PLO, and not the [PA] Ministry of Health, which carries out its professional task according to the PA's laws and regulations.
Sbeihat said: 'There are a number of media outlets that are trying to awaken this topic in a negative way, as if the PA is avoiding verifying the number of Martyrs,' and emphasized that this is absolutely not true, this is cheap populism and an unacceptable and false attempt to slander. Secretary-General of the association Sbeihat clarified that the institution to take care of the families of Martyrs and injured approves all the Martyrs of the Palestinian cause, whether they are from within the homeland or from the Diaspora, without any reference to their belonging or political leanings, and gives them monthly allowances. He emphasized that this also includes families of the Martyrs in Jerusalem and the interior (i.e., Israel) who even receive a special supplement of 300 shekels, due to the difference in the cost of living. Likewise, the National Association of Martyrs' Families of Palestine publicized the names of all the male and female Martyrs who have died during the current uprising, from Martyr Muhannad Halabi (i.e., killer of 2 ), who died as a Martyr on Oct. 3, 2015, to Martyrs Ali Muhammad Uqqab Abu Mariam and Said Joudeh Abu Al-Wafa (i.e., terrorists who attempted stabbing Israeli soldiers) who died as Martyrs on Jan. 9, 2016."
Muhannad Halabi - 19-year-old Palestinian terrorist who killed 2 Israelis, Rabbi Nehemiah Lavi and Aharon Bennett, and injured Bennett’s wife, Adele, and their 2-year-old son in a stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem on Oct. 3, 2015. Following the attack, he was shot and killed by Israeli security forces. Prior to his attack, in a post to his private Facebook page, the terrorist referred to recent terror attacks as part of a "third Intifada,” and said that it was a response to Israel’s actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and that the Palestinian people would not “succumb to humiliation.” This is a reference to the PA libel that Israel is plotting to take over and destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to the PA's portrayal of Jews praying on the Temple Mount as "an invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."
Ali Muhammad Uqqab Abu Mariam and Said Joudeh Abu Al-Wafa - 23 and 38-year-old Palestinian terrorists who tried to stab 2 Israeli soldiers at the Beka'ot junction, east of Nablus, on Jan. 9, 2016. Abu Mariam and Al-Wafa were shot and killed by the soldiers.
