O masses of our mighty people, masses of our proud people
With the increasing pace of the Zionist crimes, the rise in the number of Martyrs (Shahids), the continuation of the campaigns of destruction, executions, invasions, and detentions, which have injured hundreds of our people, and with the increase in attacks and the crazy attempts of the imperialist gangs (i.e., term used to refer to “settlers”) to repeat the crime of the era – the crime of burning the Dawabsheh family in Duma - our Palestinian people has amazingly carried out all kinds of confrontations and clashes with this unjust occupation…
O masses of our heroic people,
in light of the big plot afflicting the region and our great Arab homeland, part of the systematic and deliberate plan that began with the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) of Palestine in 1948, our Palestinian people continues its victorious path, in a heroic epic and the longest revolution known to history, during which it has sacrificed thousands of Martyrs and hundreds of thousands of prisoners on the way to freedom and independence, the continuing Palestinian revolution called ‘the impossible revolution,’ which confronts and goes against the darkest, most criminal occupation.
In view of the omens, civil wars, and destruction afflicting the region, and in view of the increasing invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in a desperate attempt to force its division by times and areas, and to impose a suffocating siege on the Old City of Jerusalem, the speech of President Mahmoud Abbas on Sept. 30 of last year [2015] comes to reemphasize the basic Palestinian principles, to place full responsibility on the occupation, as the occupying authority, and to open a new phase [of the Palestinian struggle], which is expressed in the implementation of the [Fatah] Central Committee's decisions (i.e., a reduction of security coordination with Israel) and the revival of the popular resistance in the field. This is [taking place] simultaneously with a diplomatic offensive, and political confrontation in all international arenas and UN organizations, while fortifying the internal front, investing further efforts in national unity and ending the consequences of the vile takeover (i.e., Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip), and the reunification of the masses of our people under the flag and plan of the PLO, the legal representative of our Palestinian people everywhere it is found.
O our mighty people,
the historic speech of the president at the UN [on Sept. 30, 2015] was a turning point and a new dawn, which have been expressed by the popular uprising ‘Jerusalem's rage,' which began in Jerusalem the capital, and from there spread to Hebron and the homeland's districts, with stunning heroic performances, which has returned the shine and status to the national cause. This is because the crimes of the occupation have not succeed in harming or deterring it [the Palestinian national cause], and what is even more, the popular uprising has succeeded in sowing terror and causing the loss of personal security among the imperialists, and now the streets of Jerusalem and the Palestinian West Bank have become points of friction and constant conflict…
Praise to the Martyrs, freedom for the prisoners, and primarily Marwan Barghouti (i.e., terrorist serving 5 life sentences for orchestrating attacks that killed 5 Israelis), and victory and honor to our people

Duma arson attack - On July 31, 2015, two Palestinian houses in the West Bank village of Duma were set afire by Molotov cocktails thrown through their windows. 18-month-old Ali Dawabsheh was killed in this attack, his father, Saad Dawabsheh and mother, Reham Dawabsheh, died of their injuries later. The only survivor of the attack was the couple’s other son, 4 year-old Ahmad, who suffered burns on 60% of his body and is being treated in Israel. Israeli leaders and citizens from all sectors of society condemned this attack, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas that all Israelis were disgusted by the crime, adding, “We will not countenance terrorism of any kind.” He ordered the security forces "to use all means at their disposal to apprehend the murderers and bring them to justice forthwith."
Israeli Police is treating the attack as a nationalistic crime carried out by Jewish extremists in revenge for Palestinian terror attacks. In early December 2015, Israeli police arrested several Jewish extremists who were believed to have been involved in the attack, and in January 2016, Israel indicted 21-year-old Amiram Ben Uliel, a member of the radical Jewish group “Hilltop Youth,” with three counts of murder, attempted murder, arson and conspiracy to commit a nationalistically-motivated crime. Ben Uliel confessed to police that he carried out the attack in revenge for the killing of Malachi Rosenfeld, an Israeli who was shot and killed in a terror attack in the West Bank. A minor whose name remains under a police gag order was also charged.
"Division according to areas and times" refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews. Israeli PM Netanyahu has stated on many occasions that the Israeli government has no intention of changing the status quo on the Temple Mount.
Marwan Barghouti - serving 5 life sentences for orchestrating three shooting attacks that killed 5 people: one in Jerusalem (June 12, 2001, 1 killed), another in Givat Zeev near Jerusalem (Jan. 15, 2002, 1 killed), and one in Tel Aviv (March 5, 2002, 3 killed). When arrested in 2002, he headed the Tanzim (Fatah terror faction). After he was convicted and imprisoned, he was re-elected member of the Palestinian Authority parliament.
