PA Mufti: Western Wall is "an inseparable part" of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and it "belongs only to the Muslims"
Headline: “The Mufti and Waqf demand the cessation of the excavations in the national palaces and Al-Buraq )i.e., the Western Wall), and that they be returned to them”
“The CEO of the Islamic Waqf and the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza demanded of Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib in the name of the Jordanian Waqf, which has authority and sovereignty over the Islamic and Christian holy sites, to cancel the implementation of the decision made by the Israeli government last Sunday [Jan. 31, 2016] to create prayer platforms for the liberal Jews at the expense of waqf land (a waqf is an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law) and some of the [other] Islamic endowments in the Mughrabi Gate area, next to the western wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque (i.e., the Western Wall)… The Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories [Muhammad Hussein] said that the attempts to attack the Al-Buraq plaza and its division into Talmudic (i.e., Jewish) places of prayer for the Jews are nothing other than aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza and the Islamic endowments. Likewise, he emphasized that the Al-Buraq Wall is the western wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza, and is an inseparable part of the mosque, and everything facing this wall from the west, north or south is no other than an Islamic waqf that belongs only to the Muslims.”
