Headline: “Archbishop Atallah received a number of Jerusalem Martyrs’ families”
“Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia Atallah Hanna received a delegation of Jerusalem Martyrs’ (Shahids’) families this morning [Feb. 8, 2016], who briefed the archbishop regarding their situation and suffering, the holding of their sons’ bodies [by Israel], and the demolition of their homes. The archbishop received them and expressed his pride in them, in their resolve and adherence to remaining in Jerusalem. Likewise, he said to them: ‘You are not alone in the arena. The policy of collective punishment being perpetrated against you is totally unacceptable to us, and holding the Martyrs’ bodies is a despicable crime, opposed to all norms, values, and ethics. This is the first time we hear of the imprisonment of Martyrs’ bodies, and this happens only to us.”
