PLO Prisoners' Affairs director announces campaign to give terrorist Marwan Barghouti the Nobel Peace Prize in order to legitimize the prisoners' “struggle”

Headline: “The [PLO] Commission of Prisoners and Released Prisoners' Affairs is beginning to enlist support for the nomination of Marwan Barghouti for the Nobel Peace Prize”

“Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake stated yesterday [March 7, 2016] that the Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs has launched a campaign in cooperation with many local and international institutions to enlist support for the nomination of PA Parliament member Marwan Barghouti (i.e., terrorist who orchestrated three shooting attacks in which 5 were murdered) for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Karake added: ‘We support the step taken by the Argentinian human rights activist, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, who nominated Barghouti for the Nobel Peace Prize. We intend to be in touch with… many countries, institutions, and activists in order to support this.’

The Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs added: ‘The nomination of Barghouti for the prize means support for the just rights of the Palestinian people in its struggle for freedom and independence, and support for the prisoners’ cause, as well as their legitimate struggle for freedom and honor, as prisoners of freedom who sacrificed and fought for their land and in order to end the injustice the occupation is causing to our people.’

Karake stated that this campaign is a response to the wave of Israeli measures and acts against the prisoners, to deny their legal status as fighters, and the non-recognition of the legitimacy of their struggle against the occupation.”
