PLO warns against Israel’s “stealing of the land” and refers to Israel as “territories occupied in 1948”

Headline: “The Department of Refugee Affairs demands to expand the popular uprising and join efforts to deal with the settlements”

“The PLO Department of Refugee Affairs emphasized yesterday [March 30, 2016] that Land Day was a day of fierce Palestinian defiance against the stealing of the land and its expropriation by the occupation, and a significant turning point in the history our people’s struggle in the territories occupied in 1948 (i.e., Israel) in the West Bank and Gaza…
The department saluted our people in the West Bank and Jerusalem and their uprising, which has been going on for 5 months (i.e., wave of Palestinian terror attacks 2015-2016), in order to protect Jerusalem, the holy sites, and the land. [It also saluted] our people in the territories occupied in 1948 (i.e., Israel), who stand firm in the face of the occupation’s racist policy.

The department stressed that our people will turn each and every one of its days into a day of protecting the land from the [Israeli] plans and actions to erode it, swallow it, and establish the despicable occupation on it. It stressed that the popular resistance to the settlement enterprise, the occupation, and its settler herds must be escalated, until it (i.e., Israel) is banished from all the territories occupied in 1967, including Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Palestine.”

Land Day – an annual commemoration of the general strike and demonstrations organized by Israeli Arab residents of the Galilee on March 30, 1976 to protest the Israeli government's decision to expropriate land in the Galilee for security and settlement purposes, which it later implemented. During the protests, demonstrators burnt tires, blocked roads, and threw rocks and firebombs. Six demonstrators were shot and killed by the Israeli army and police. Israeli Arabs and Palestinians consider Land Day a national day.

Note: The terms "all means," "peaceful uprising,” and “popular uprising" are ‎often used by PA leaders to refer to events that include violence and deadly terror ‎against Israeli civilians such as rock-throwing, stabbings and even shootings. See ‎Mahmoud Abbas' reference to murderous terror as "peaceful" during the 2015-2016 ‎terror wave (“The Knife Intifada”), which included numerous stabbing ‎attacks:
