Voices unheard: Palestinians themselves recount how they became refugees

While Abbas admitted on TV that he and the Arabs of Safed left of their own accord in 1948, a new PA TV children' program teaches children that his "family was forced to leave." (Feb. 15, 2018)

Although PA Chairman Abbas revises history by claiming Palestinains are "a proud nation with a rich heritage of ancient civilisations," a historian on PA TV stated that "Palestine's political borders as we know them today did not exist" in 1917.

During UN speech, Abbas stated he was "thrown into exile" in 1948. In a statement on PA TV earlier this year, Abbas explained that he and other Arabs of Safed left on their own out of fear.

In recent years, Palestinian leaders, writers and refugees have spoken out in the Palestinian media, blaming the Arab leadership for the creation of the refugee problem.
