Fatah thanks countries who voted for UN resolution with image of bloody knife shaped as map of “Palestine”
Image and text posted on the official Fatah Facebook page
Posted text: “Thanks”
The image shows a hand holding the PA map of “Palestine” that presents all of Israel as “Palestine” together with the PA areas, which is in the colors of the Palestinian flag. The hand is using the map as a knife to stab the word: “Settlement.”
In an addition to the Dec. 22, 2016 post of the same image, a red pool of blood can be seen added under the word “Settlement.”
Likewise the word “Thanks” is added at the top of the image, together with the names of the 14 countries that supported a UN Security Council resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlement building: “Russia, Angola, Ukraine, Japan, Spain, Egypt, Malaysia, Venezuela, New Zealand, Senegal, Uruguay, France, China, Britain.”

The post refers to a UN Security Council resolution declaring Israeli settlement illegal, which passed on Dec. 23, 2016, by a vote of 14-0 with one abstention. The US abstained instead of vetoing the resolution, in a breach of longstanding US policy of not allowing the UN to force conditions on Israel in place of direct negotiations. This policy change came during US President Barack Obama’s final weeks in office.
