PA culture of death: “Martyr, we must follow in your footsteps”

  • PA music video includes actual footage of stabbing attack

A most effective form of mind control is repetition. The PA excels in repetition. One message that it is repeating now is the value of Martyrdom for Allah. For example, one music video broadcast by PA TV Live repeats to Palestinians the ideal of dying as “Martyrs” for “Palestine”: “Martyr, we must follow in your footsteps.”

It also repeats something else. Part of the visuals in the music video is footage of a real stabbing attack. A Palestinian terrorist stabbed and wounded Israeli police officers near Damascus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem in 2015 before he was killed and “became a Martyr.” The repeat broadcast of his attack is a reminder to Palestinians that carrying out terror attacks against Israelis is a good way to achieve Martyrdom for Allah:

Terrorist raising knife to stab Israeli police officer
Terrorist killed - achieves “Martyrdom.”

Lyrics: "Our Jerusalem, we’re at your service when you ask...
Our Jerusalem is a jewel of gold in the crown of the Arabs
O sun that lights up the homeland and is not extinguished
O [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu, listen or we'll make you listen
Your army needs to disappear from Palestine..."

Visuals of stabbing attack by terrorist Muhammad Sa’id Ali, who wounded 3 Israeli police officers; and clashes between Palestinian rioters and Israeli soldiers

"No matter how wide our Al-Aqsa is, there will be no place for you (i.e., Israel)
It won't allow a division (i.e., of prayer times for Muslims and Jews)
If you are not convinced, we'll convince you by force...
O our Martyr, we must follow in your footsteps
The homeland’s wound has been healed by your blow [against Israel]."

The same promotion of the PA’s culture of death has been repeated in the last few months in several music videos. One video presents two suicide bombers as role models for Palestinians to emulate while the lyrics explain that for Al-Aqsa “life is insignificant” and pleads “God, grant us Martyrdom there”:

Lyrics: "Al-Aqsa has called, and its call is precious
For its sake, life is insignificant, even if it’s precious...
God, grant us Martyrdom there
God, promise us, we beg of you…
A million grooms and brides at the celebration
Have written the marriage contract in blood on the veil"

Visual: Suicide bomber Wafa Idris – She blew herself up in Jerusalem, murdering 1 and wounding over 100

"A million grooms and brides at the celebration
Have written the marriage contract in blood on the veil"

Visual: Suicide bomber Ayyat Al-Akhras – She blew herself up in Jerusalem, murdering 2 and wounding 28

"Filled with desire, they are going to the Paradise of immortals
To a wedding procession with angels that fill Palestine with light."

This music video aired on official PA TV, Dec. 11, 17, 19, 2017; Jan. 8, 10, 20, Nov. 2, 2018; Jan. 14, July 2, 6, 2019; and Feb. 16, 2020; on Official PA TV Live, June 2, 22, and 28, 2019; June 1, 8, 15, 29, July 1 (twice) 2020.

Another music video reminds Palestinians that they should be prepared to “redeem Jerusalem with [their] children”:

"The people declares and calls: Jerusalem is my country's capital!
By Allah, I will redeem [it] with my children, and Al-Aqsa is the place.
The people declares and calls: Jerusalem is my country's capital!
By Allah, I will redeem [it] with my children, and Al-Aqsa is the place.
Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!"

More repetition of the ideal of Martyrdom for Al-Aqsa is found in this music video, which has also been broadcast several times during the last month. Palestinians offer their blood to "defend" and "redeem" Al-Aqsa:

Lyrics:  “There are knights in Jerusalem...
Our Al-Aqsa is magnificent with its dome, its walls, and its gates.
With a stone, we witness the victory.
Bab Al-Huta remains its [northern] gate
[Al-Aqsa] is defended by the men of Palestine.
With their blood, they will redeem its soil.

And with uncompromising determination they are its swords and spears.”

Another song, also broadcast repeatedly, teaches Palestinians to die: “My red blood waters the greenery”:

“Where are the millions?
Where is the Arab people?
Where is the Arab rage?
Where is the Arab blood?
Where is the Arab honor?
Where are the millions? Where?
Allah is with us. He is stronger and greater than the Children of Zion
Even if they hang, kill and bury [me],
my land will not be humiliated
My red blood waters the greenery
with lemon flavor
The fire of revolution is getting stronger
and flaring up. We are the victors...
My chest is a machine gun’s magazine,

where are you, my brothers? Where?”

[Official PA TV Live, June 1, 13, 15, 17, 2020]

PMW has shown that the PA’s repetitive messages register with Palestinians. Palestinians are prepared to sacrifice themselves and carry out terror attacks to defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem and “Palestine.”

PMW has also exposed, the PA is currently engaged in heating up the atmosphere in the Palestinian street in the hope that Palestinians will be prepared to use violence, terror, and Martyrdom operations against Israel as soon as the PA wants it. One way the PA is doing this is by way of repetition – by repeatedly broadcasting music videos and fillers with violent images and lyrics that urge Palestinians to “act,” and carry out terror and Martyrdom attacks. Another example is a filler calling on Palestinians and Arabs to “act before it’s too late.” Text slides are read by a narrator followed by part of a song, which the PA used to ignite its terror wave in October 2000, with the message to go to holy war: “Jihad is necessary.”
