A mother’s pride: "I congratulate my son ... he died as a Martyr"
“I am proud of my children… They are not spies, not land sellers, not collaborators, not drug addicts, and not gamblers.”
“My children are going on the path of truth”
PA Mufti urges dying in conflict: “Either [we’ll be] living in dignity on this land or [we’ll be] Martyrs in the belly of this land”
Israeli security forces raided a Hamas terror cell in the West Bank to thwart imminent terror attacks in the West Bank and in Israel, they had planned. During the raid, 5 terrorist were killed after opening fire against the Israeli forces, and another 20 cell members were arrested.
The mother of one of the dead terrorist “Martyrs” celebrated his “Martyrdom,” stressing her satisfaction that he fought Israel and was not a “spy, land seller, collaborator, drug addict, or gambler.” She also repeated the PA teaching that the Jews are the enemies of Allah and Muslims:
Mother of terrorist Ahmed Zahran: “[The Jews] have been our enemies since the days of the Prophet, May Allah take revenge on them in this world and in the Afterlife... I congratulate my son on this happy day on which he died as a Martyr... I am proud of my children. I am proud of them. They are not spies, not land sellers, not collaborators, not drug addicts, and not gamblers. My children are going on the path of truth.”

Following established PA policy - which is to idolize martyrdom-death for “Palestine” - the PA’s highest religious authority, the Grand Mufti, reinforced the status of “Martyrs,” implicitly urging Palestinians to seek death:
PA Mufti Muhammad Hussein: “We have a wise expression or slogan that says: ‘Either [we’ll be] living in dignity on this land or [we’ll be] Martyrs in the belly of this land.’ There is no other alternative for the Palestinians - in the holy city and other [places] like it in the Palestinian lands - except to study and take shelter in the shade of this slogan.”

When referring to “my children,” the mother was probably referring to another son, Zahran Zahran. He was also a terrorist and a senior member of the Izz A-Din Al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas’ military wing), and involved in the Afula bus bombing on April 6, 1994 (8 murdered, 55 injured) and the kidnapping and murder of Israeli soldier Nachshon Wachsman in October 1994. Zahran Zahran was killed by Israeli security forces on Sept. 28, 1998.
September 2021 raids on Hamas terror cell - Israeli forces conducted raids on Sept. 26, 2021 to arrest members of a Hamas terror cell in several locations in the West Bank, in order to thwart imminent large-scale terror attacks that the cell was planning to launch in the West Bank and Israel. Five Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists were killed after opening fire on Israeli forces during the raids, and approximately 20 members of the cell were arrested and weapons were seized. The five killed in the raids were: Ahmed Zahran, Muhammad Hmeidan, Zakariya Badwan, Osama Sobeh, and Yusuf Sobeh.
Grand Mufti Muhammad Hussein made the statement cited above at a seminar in Jordan for journalists and communication professionals called “Jerusalem under occupation.” He also serves as Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council Chairman and Deputy Secretary-General and acting Secretary-General of the PLO Popular National Conference of Jerusalem.
