Palestinian Authority/Fatah leader says October 7 atrocities raised Hamas to status of Fatah as a Palestinian liberation movement

Itamar Marcus  |

Jibril Rajoub:

  • Atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7 made it "part of the Palestinian national self-liberation movement"

  • There is now no obstacle "that could thwart… a national consensus government, but for all Palestinians."

Palestinian Media Watch has contended for decades that the Palestinian Authority is undisputedly a terror organization. The PA/Fatah has now fully confirmed this, saying that Hamas' attack on October 7, 2023, when it committed some of the most horrific terror atrocities against Jews since the Holocaust, is what "made them [Hamas] part of the Palestinian national self-liberation movement."

For more than a year since October 7, when Hamas massacred, raped, burned alive, and beheaded Israelis, the Palestinian Authority has argued that Hamas' actions were in self-defense and legal under international law. Now, the PA has gone even further and has said that October 7 was so exceptional that it has raised Hamas to Fatah's level as "part of the Palestinian national self-liberation movement." Fatah's official name is: The Palestinian National Liberation Movement.

PA leader Jibril Rajoub: "Our brothers in Hamas – what they did on Oct. 7, [2023] made them part of the Palestinian national self-liberation movement and outside the framework of the Muslim Brotherhood."

Prior to October 7, Hamas was merely the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, explained PA leader Jibril Rajoub. October 7 served as a rite of passage for Hamas, which has now proven that it is worthy of being a partner with Fatah in the Palestinian liberation movement.

Accordingly, Rajoub sees no obstacles now in the way of Fatah and Hamas uniting in one government:

"I do not see any obstacle that could thwart achieving a common understanding for building an umbrella that will include the entire Palestinian people, a national consensus government, but for all Palestinians."

This must be yet another wakeup call to those who delude themselves into thinking that the PA/Fatah can play a positive role among Palestinians. PA/Fatah has been acting like a terror organization for decades. Now, they have announced it publicly: The most horrific atrocities committed against Jews since the Holocaust, including murder, rape, beheading, and burning alive, is what the PA/Fatah see as raising Hamas to their status.
