PA: Jews “sucked the blood of the nations” – that’s why Israel exists

Ahron Shapiro|

Palestinian hatred for Israel is built upon the foundation of a hatred of Jews that permeates its culture. The Palestinian Authority makes no effort to counter this – in fact, it is the primary source of it, preaching and promoting this bigotry directly through its officials and amplifying this messaging through its media.

And so, it was no surprise that an official from the PA Ministry of Religious Affairs didn't hesitate recently to use crude antisemitic tropes about Jews to explain Israel's very existence:

Director of the PA Ministry of Religious Affairs' Department of Preaching and Guidance Sheikh Ahmed Al-Rifa'i: "I emphasize: Do not emigrate from our homeland and leave it to our enemies (i.e., the Jews)… It is better and more appropriate for those [Jews] who came as strangers to [leave] this land… They are the ones who should emigrate, and the entire Western world can accommodate them. When they were expelled from 112 countries (sic., 12-15 expulsions) the West could not tolerate them because they were engaged in corruption, financial crimes, and usury. They sucked the blood of the nations there. They could not tolerate them and expelled them from their lands, and we are suffering from them."

The association between Jews, Israel, Zionist and blood is a common motif for the PA's incitement over its airwaves:

Tunisian activist: "This Zionist criminal, he lives on blood and crimes… As long as the mother of the just causes, Palestine, the land, and freedom – will not be resolved justly, we say this and repeat it, justly, [then] the world will in no way achieve security nor peace!"

Journalists employed by the PA - and whose salaries are supported by Western donor countries - often aren't satisfied with just bringing such views to air through interviews and documentaries. As Palestinian Media Watch has observed, the hosts themselves insert demonization and delegitimization into their storylines, such as the erasure of Jewish religious and historical ties to Israel:

Official PA radio station The Voice of Palestine host: "When the international community will decide to remove this occupation (i.e., Israel), it will be removed within an hour. This occupation was established on our land by a virtual decision and became what is called Israel, which is a product of a fundamentally Zionist movement, and it has no contexts – neither religious, nor historical, nor others."
