Fathers and sons urged to bond over terrorism
In the Palestinian Authority, a family that slays together gets PA praise together.
So it was for Fathi Hazem, a member of the PA Security Forces, and his two terrorist sons, one of whom murdered three people in Tel Aviv, after the father was shot and killed when he tried to stab an Israeli soldier in Jenin on August 21.
Hazem was immediately eulogized - not only as "Martyr" and "leader", but also as a role model for Palestinian fathers everywhere - by a spectrum of PA and Fatah leaders and officials. Every glorification of Hazem included an homage to his being a father of two terrorists - including one with the blood of three people on his hands.
Whereas, Palestinian Media Watch has documented that all terrorists are honored by the PA, Fathi Hazam received special accolades as the the father of two terrorists. That Fathi Hazem guided his sons into terrorism is beyond doubt, a point a Fatah spokesman drove home with a video of Fathi from 2022, re-released after his death, where he expressed glowing admiration for his terrorist son after his murderous rampage that lasted for hours on Dizengoff Street in central Tel Aviv:

"Ret. Deputy Commissioner and father of two Martyrs, a terrorist revenge elimination"
Fathi Hazem: "Although I lost my son Ra'ad (i.e., terrorist, murdered 3), my pride has grown, as he prevented [people in] Tel Aviv from moving [in the streets] for nine hours!"
[Fatah Spokesman Dr. Jamal Nazzal, Facebook page, Aug. 21, 2026]
Fatah's Shabiba Youth Movement glorified Hazem as a "Martyr and leader," wishing him and his terrorist sons "glory and eternal life":

Posted text: "With great pride and honor, the Fatah Youth Movement announces the death of Martyr and leader in the Fatah Movement, Fathi Hazem "Abu Ra'ad," the father of the Martyrs Ra'ad (i.e., terrorist, murdered 3) and Abd Al-Rahman Hazem (i.e., terrorist), who was shot and killed by the occupation (i.e., Israel's) forces...
Glory and eternal life to the Martyrs Ra'ad and Abd Al-Rahman Hazem, to their leader father, the Martyr Fathi Hazem "Abu Ra'ad," and to all the Martyrs of our people."[Fatah Shabiba Youth Movement, Facebook, Aug. 21, 2026]
Fatah's Shabiba Student Movement specifically stressed that Hazem had fathered a murderer and a terrorist - "a father who gave birth to glory":

Posted text: "With hearts believing in the will of Allah and His destiny, and with feelings of sadness and loss, the [Fatah] Student Youth Movement and the Student Union of Tulkarem announce the death of the national fighter of Fatah, Fathi Hazem "Abu Al-Ra'ad," (i.e., father of 2 terrorists, one who murdered 3) …we remember with pain and pride his two sons, the Martyrs Ra'ad Hazem (i.e., terrorist, murdered 3) and Abd Al-Rahman Hazem (i.e., terrorist). This is a family with a heavy burden of loss and sacrifice, and its name will remain a testament to the extent of our people's giving for the sake of their homeland and freedom."

Top Fatah official Jibril Rajoub also glorified Hazem on social media, ignoring the stabbing attack and instead claiming Hazem was killed for "refusing to bow" to the Israeli "Nazi":
Fatah Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub: "What happened to Abu Ra'ad [Fathi Hazem], this Palestinian national fighter (i.e., father of 2 terrorists, one murdered 3) who said to this criminal murderer (i.e., Israel): Who are you that I should bow before you, you despicable, pathetic fascist Nazi? This expression should remain a guide and mentor for us."
[Fatah Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub, Facebook page, Aug. 25, 2026]
Rajoub's fellow Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Al-Tirawi also transformed the shooting of Hazem during his stabbing attack into a claim that Hazem was killed for simply "refusing to kneel":
Fatah Central Committee member and General Commissioner for Recruitment and Organization Tawfiq Al-Tirawi: "In Jenin, at the mourning house of [Fathi] Abu Ra'ad Hazem, the Martyrs' death had another date. The Martyrdom passed through this place many times, as [Fathi] accompanied two of his sons [Ra'ad and Abd Al-Rahman] to Heaven and carried [with him] their tragedy…
The occupation (i.e., Israeli) soldiers wanted to ask him to kneel, but they did not know that lofty people, who spent their lives defending the meaning of resolve and honor, do not know how to kneel. Abu Ra'ad ascended [to Heaven] as he lived, standing, and what kind of occupier asks the father of two Martyrs to kneel?"
[Tawfiq Tirawi, Facebook page, Aug. 22, 2026]
Hazem and his terrorist sons were also eulogized in the official PA newspaper:
"The commander (i.e., a member of the PA Security Forces) and fighter Fathi Zidan Hazem (58 years old), father of Martyrs Ra'ad (i.e., terrorist, murdered 3) and Abd Al-Rahman (i.e., terrorist), died as a Martyr early yesterday morning shot by the occupation (i.e., Israeli) forces in the city of Jenin….
The occupation army claimed that the Martyr attempted to stab one of its soldiers."
[Official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 22, 2026]
The message from the PA and Fatah couldn't be clearer: Palestinian fathers should raise their children to kill and be "Martyrs", then choose the same path for themselves. This is the path that will earn your extended family eternal prestige, respect, and glory.
