PA: Israel is "state of Satan on earth"

The PA leadership is forever demonizing Israel and Jews while claiming to want peace, which makes the following statement so outrageous. Member of Fatah's Revolutionary Council and regular columnist of the official PA daily Muwaffaq Matar declared that "spreading hate" "contradicts" the Palestinian "national struggle":

"We refrained from spreading hate, not only because it appears in the text of the Oslo Accords, but also because it contradicts the central characteristic of the national struggle, which is the belief in justice."

The truth is that the PA, and the PLO and Fatah before its establishment, have always spread hatred against Jews and Israelis and have never stopped. For decades, Palestinian Media Watch has exposed the PA's antisemitic ideology that the PA continuously disseminates.

Official PA TV broadcast earlier this month an interview with an Egyptian cleric who taught viewers that the Jews are "morally corrupt" and that Israel is "the state of Satan on earth." However, he ensured listeners that Allah will assist the "suffering" Palestinians in dealing with the "satanic entity" and that Jews/Israelis will be "defeated and sent to Hell":

Egyptian Al-Azhar Cleric Sheikh Yasser Mustafa Younes: "I am astonished by the moral corruption of these people (i.e., the Jews). But I say that the moral corruption they operate by is what will bring about their end soon, Allah willing. The state of Satan on earth (i.e., Israel), the bully, committing all kinds of moral corruption... Today they do not dare to say they are from the occupying entity (i.e., Israel)... Indeed they are isolated and will continue to be isolated until their end comes, soon if Allah wills… Allah the Exalted said: ‘Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it. They strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allah does not like corrupters.' This is a comprehensive description of the satanic entity from which the state of Palestine suffers. Palestinians, if Allah the Exalted chose these sufferings for you, then you are capable of enduring them, and you will receive help and they will be defeated and sent to Hell…The Palestinian land, from its beginning to its end, is Palestinian land and it will expel these invaders."

But Palestinians are not just hearing these antisemitic teachings from a cleric in Egypt. Consistent with its antisemitic ideology, the PA told its citizens in a different broadcast that not only are Jews "foreigners" with no history in the land, but "evil" is also in their nature:

Official PA TV reporter: "They [the Jews] are unruly, foreigners. They have no foundation or roots in this land, for the land knows its owners. Since the first Canaanite, the Palestinian becomes purified morning and evening in the soil of Palestine... The [Jewish] settler gangs, if you ask about their genealogy, you will find that evil is their father, oppression is their mother, betrayal is their brother, injustice is their sister, and harm is their uncle and destruction is their tribe, while the state of the Palestinian is like that of the phoenix, rising from the ruins."

Official PA TV also broadcast a statement by Fatah spokesman and member of Fatah's Revolutionary Council, Dr. Maher Alnamoura, who explained that "the foreigners" – i.e., the Israelis – will "go to Hell" and the Jewish state will be destroyed: 

Official Fatah spokesman and member of Fatah's Revolutionary Council, Dr. Maher Alnamoura: "The occupation(i.e., Israel) is destined to end… We are the rightful owners, and we are the owners of the land. This is Palestine, for which we have struggled and carried out Jihad and resistance (i.e., terror) to defend it and to remain on this land… As for the foreigners (i.e., Israelis), they will go to Hell, and our land will remain Palestinian, Arab, and Islamic."

Columnist Hassan Hmeid of the official PA daily went even further in his libelous description of Jews'/Israelis' "hate-filled nature," portraying them as "bloodlust[ing]… shameless, immoral, inhuman, and conscienceless" individuals who "murder children in their sweet sleep" and "set fire to the clothes of mothers who have just given birth":

Columnist Hassan Hmeid: "Oh Allah! How evident is their (i.e., Israelis') barbarism, their bloodlust, and their racism!

How clear they are in their hostility, their blindness, and their lies! How shameless, immoral, inhuman, and conscienceless they are, and in broad daylight! ... They murder children in their sweet sleep in their mothers' arms, or while they sleep like angels in incubators in hospitals, or while they are at morning assembly, reciting the anthem ‘My country, my country'...

They set fire to the clothes of mothers who have just given birth to their babies in hospitals...

Due to their hate-filled nature, they burn the grass wet with dew, while it calls to children, lovers, shepherds, and birds...

They boast that they kill, destroy, expel, uproot, and erase villages, cities, schools, hospitals, fields, roads, houses of worship, beauty, and art. They admit that they burn books of geography, history, sociology, ethics, languages, religions, wisdom, morality, education, mythology, anthropology, legends, and ancient traditions... to say, after a very, very, very long sigh, ‘It's all over, the Palestinians are dead'!" The same columnist of the official PA daily also added world literature and famous writers' descriptions of Jews in fiction as proof of Jews' evil traits and "bad and undesirable behavior." He claimed that since American author Henry Miller described "anyone he want[ed] to curse as a Jew" and because Russian writer Ivan Turgenev always joined the two words "a traitor and a Jew" as a fixed term, Jews are truly bad people and "traitors":

Columnist of the official PA daily Hassan Hmeid: "There were groups of Jews who had things that made people feel—people in Europe or Czarist Russia or in Iran or India or Africa or all over the world, or in Austria… They said [about the Jews]: "This is bad and undesirable behavior, and it needs to be dealt with." When you read what was written in those days—I'm talking about the previous centuries, from the Middle Ages to what they call the Enlightenment—there's very clear [Jewish] behavior. If you read [the literature of] the Americans, for example Henry Miller's Tropic of Capricorn, anyone he wants to curse he describes as a Jew. With the Russians, [writer Ivan] Turgenev… he always says that someone in the camp was ‘a traitor and a Jew.' If you move to the subject of property, you'll see ugly things… We have many examples… of assassinations of people on the international stage who supported the Palestinians. People who said that what is happening now is impossible [to tolerate]. All these people—the artists and intellectuals, the students and lecturers who spoke about genocide—they are all in danger of assassination [by the Jews]."

After all this, we are convinced that you do not know life in its beautiful meaning and in its beautiful form. You do not know what a home means, while you live in settlements, whose foundations are fear, alertness, and the belief that they will be uprooted."

Excerpt of a column by Member of Fatah's Revolutionary Council and regular columnist of the official PA daily Muwaffaq Matar

"The sanctity of human life – including the Palestinian person, his spirit, blood, and resources – and preventing its use as a tool or means, or treating it as just a number, remain the fundamental value that guides and dictates our rational, realistic, and objective media discourse...

The principles and goals of the Declaration of Independence, published by the Palestinian National Council on November 15, 1988, remain the foundation of the political and national program of the PLO. From it emerged a rational media discourse, for which we mobilized realistic and useful linguistic tools, against two types of impulsive propaganda and false claims: The first used by the racist religious Zionist parties that control the state of occupation and racist settlement colonialism (Israel) [parentheses in source], and the second by armed Palestinian groups linked to the agendas of regional states (i.e., Hamas and Islamic Jihad etc.)...

We refrained from spreading hate, not only because it appears in the text of the Oslo Accords, but also because it contradicts the central characteristic of the national struggle, which is the belief in justice... because it is a factor that internally destroys the national character with identity and human values...
