Israeli election discussion used by Palestinian Authority TV to defend Abbas’ Holocaust distortion

Even discussion of an Israeli election platform becomes an occasion for official Palestinian Authority TV to defend Holocaust distortion and to libel Israel.

During a discussion of an Israeli party's election platform, PA TV's "Israeli affairs expert" rejected criticism of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Holocaust denial, presenting his Nazi-Zionist conspiracy claims as established fact:

Official PA TV "Israeli affairs expert" Fayez Abbas: "Avigdor Lieberman, head of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, who is a fascist settler, presents his election platform, which includes the elimination of the Palestinian Authority… He described [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas as someone who denies the Holocaust of the Jews. Of course, this is a lie. President Mahmoud Abbas proved the existence of a connection between the Nazis and the leaders of the Zionist movement at the time. Of course, this is not mentioned in the statement, but he [Lieberman] says that he [Abbas] denies the Holocaust."

In fact, Abbas argued in his doctoral thesis that Zionists deliberately inflated the Holocaust death toll for political gain and that the actual number of Jews killed was only "a few hundred thousand."

Just two weeks later, PA TV broadcast a Palestinian academic promoting the same accusation of Jewish exploitation of the Holocaust:

Palestinian academic Dr. Sa'id Shahin: "The actions that Hitler took against the Jews were greatly exploited. What is known as the Holocaust… was exaggerated [and so were the] numbers, and it was exploited for the benefit of the Jews to give them a greater opportunity and larger numbers to emigrate to Palestine."

PA TV's broadcasts expose the contradiction. The PA rejects the charge of Holocaust denial against Abbas while giving airtime to the very distortion underlying that charge.
