On occasion of the 50th anniversary yesterday of "the Launch" of the Fatah movement, Fatah is still promoting violence as "legitimate resistance" and Martyrdom-death as an ideal to strive for.

Senior Fatah official:"The big explosion is coming...No one will say that weapons are forbidden in the West Bank."

Even during the peak of Israel-Palestinian peace negotiations, Fatah official Tawfiq Tirawi said that Palestinians would not abandon violence as a potential means. According to Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), Tirawi said that negotiations are just one option and do not replace use of the "rifle."

Fatah official:"We have not cast down the rifle... the rifle is here, and it can burst forth at any moment."

This is a unique opportunity for Fatah and Abbas to officially and publicly eradicate four principles that are basic foundations of the conflict, thereby demonstrating that the Palestinians have joined the peace process.
